Participants in the Prison Entrepreneurship Program go through a structured, intensive experience that doesn’t just build business knowledge. It reshapes identity, mindset, and behavior.
The Core Components
PEP’s curriculum is built around three pillars:
- Entrepreneurship:
Participants study Harvard MBA-level materials adapted for real-world application. They learn how to develop business plans, understand operations, manage finances, and deliver pitches. - Character Development:
The “Men’s Life” curriculum focuses on personal accountability, integrity, communication, and emotional intelligence. These soft skills are essential for long-term success. - Reentry Preparation:
Participants prepare for life after release through resume building, mock interviews, financial literacy, and goal planning. This phase starts long before anyone walks out the gate.
Real Accountability
Participants are expected to show up every day, engage fully, meet deadlines, and deliver under pressure. Business plan competitions, exams, and peer reviews are part of the process.
They also receive feedback from volunteers and mentors who push them to grow professionally and personally.
