The foundation of PEP’s success is found in the community that is created by over 450 volunteers contributing to over 98,000 hours of mentorship and accompaniment. Each arrow represents an opportunity for engagement in and outside of prison, and a touch point of change in both the volunteer and participant.

Judge individual participants on new business ideas from the lens of a consumer (i.e. Is the idea innovative? Is there a market?) Teams will be formed to move forward with the top ideas.

Upon completion of the BPC, participants are required to attend the “Clubhouse” where executives serve on a panel, which is facilitated by two participant moderators in a peer-driven, group setting.
Volunteers align with and welcome new participants. Write an encouraging letters to participants.
Take a deeper dive with the business teams on Vision & Objective, Product/Service, and Marketing.
Work 1×1 with a team by doing market research, answering questions, and editing business plans.
Take a deeper dive with the business teams on financial budgeting and making the Ask.
Bring dinner to 1 of 5 houses on a scheduled night. Engage in conversation with transition house residents over dinner.
Teach a one hour in-person or virtual class to participants during their first 150 days post-release. Topics focus on attributes needed for a Triumphant Life, including personal finances, employment, family relationships, health and wellness.
Support and provide guidance to freshly released participants during their first 90 days of freedom. Meet weekly at the PEP office during the last hour of eSchool.
Walk alongside PEP graduate as a life mentor focused on physical and mental wellness, authenticity, sobriety, personal finances, career pathing, interpersonal skills and relationship building.
Provide specific coaching related to creating, starting, and running a business based on relevant entrepreneurship, industry, financial, and management experience.
Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) created to loan money to the economically disadvantaged and financially underserved. In addition to financing, provides financial literacy, accounting, and business skills mentoring on a consistent basis to borrowers (partnership With SCORE).
