Policy Statement on Non-Discrimination

PEP is committed to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, both in its mission and its practices. PEP does not discriminate against any person, population group, or organization with regard to categories protected by applicable United States law including those based on race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender expression, physical appearance, language, education, background, national origin, age, disability and veteran status. This relates to both provisions of services and hiring practices. All PEP staff must affirm their commitment to nondiscrimination and a harassment-free environment with a written acknowledgment of PEP’s Employee Handbook.

PEP’s strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is reflected in all facets of our organization. Eighty percent of PEP full-time staff members have previously been incarcerated. Forty-eight percent of PEP staff are members of a minority population. Staff identifies as 72% male and 28% female; a number that is weighted more heavily towards men since PEP works exclusively with men’s prisons. PEP clients are 33% Black, 30% Latin, and 36% Caucasian. PEP works to ensure that its board and staff are representative of the clients we serve.
