Class 14: Week 3
August 17, 2010

Monday, July 19, 2010 – Mike came today, giving us a lecture from a series of planned lectures on our 10 Driving Values.  Today’s topic was Wise Stewardship.  Mike expounded using a parable from the Bible as well as a personal experience he had with his brother.  The point was driven home very well and had a lasting effect on his audience.

To close out the evening, we celebrated a birthday before giving out more sweet names to some of the Class 14 men who have yet to receive theirs.

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 – Phi was here today and gave some general announcements and gave us some encouragement.  He then went into what turned out to be the highlight of the day: he introduced a new spiritual advisor to us.  As it turns out, some of the participants knew him.  Years ago, he worked for the Harris County Sheriff’s Department as a jailer.  He went on to become a missionary, which led him to begin a ministry.  He is scheduled to come once a week and be available for one-on-one counseling.

Next, Jose gave us his weekly “Esquire Report.”  This is one of the favorite events the participants look forward to each week.  He brings the class up to date on world financial news, stock market analysis, gold prices, economic situations—all beneficial information in the day and life of an entrepreneur.  Jose adds his own special flair, which makes it extremely interesting.

Last but not least, we took the first chapter test from our entrepreneur textbook, something we have been anticipating for over a week now.

Wednesday, July 21, 2010 – Today began with words from both Randy and Marcus, who both spoke about accountability and the downfalls it could bring when ignored.

We took a test over a novel we’re reading as a class, Crime and Punishment.  It is going over rather well as indicated by the lengthy discussions brought on by his 18th century Russian novel.  To cap off the evening, we had some fun time in class after dinner.

Thursday, July 22, 2010 – Today was set aside for us to catch up on getting sweet names.  The first event is coming up at the end of next week so we are all getting excited.  We also got a little history lesson about the Civil War.

Friday, July 23, 2010 – Dance teams were set today and we had one dress rehearsal.  Good thing there is one more week to stabilize nerves and find vocal cords.  Participants were then able to study and review for the entrepreneur test on the upcoming chapter using an adaptation of the popular game show, Jeopardy.  The participants had fun while also learning about entrepreneurship.  To wrap things up, we watched a documentary Jose brought in about the Japanese fishing industry.

Expressions
There was a giant sigh of relief this week in the PEP room.  Last week brought an end to the large bulk of tests each class goes through in the beginning.  Also, all the homework that was brought on by that was turned in on Monday.  After the smoke cleared, the majority of the class remained standing.  Between that and our first event fast approaching, morale is high and entrepreneurial passion is flowing positively through the participants, so stay tuned until next week as the good times roll down the halls of the Unit in Cleveland, TX, right into the PEP classroom.
